Co-curricular activities can teach students the positives of being part of a team, sharing their sense of fun with others, and keeping mentally and physically active. Depending on availability, the following activities will be offered to students throughout the school year. It is important to note that some, but not all, extra-curricular activities will incur an additional cost to families.
Sport
Sporting opportunities are many and varied across all year levels and students will participate in the following inter-house carnivals: Swimming (only Years 3 to 6 students plus some Year 2 students), Cross Country and Athletics. Students aged 10 to 12 years old will have the opportunity to advance through to a state level in a variety of sports including: Basketball, Tennis, Cricket, Hockey, Softball, Swimming, Athletics, Netball and all Football codes.
Zone 4
BCE hosts a range of inter-school carnivals for Catholic primary schools in the northwest and inner-western suburbs of Brisbane. St William's participates in Zone 4, with students in Years 4 to 6 to take part in events such as Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics and Gala Days throughout the year.
West District Sport
St William's has a strong record of success in West District Sport, achieving a number of championship trophies across Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the QC Cup for Netball.
Our Physical Education teacher, together with dedicated parent volunteers, fosters a healthy and vibrant sporting culture within the school.
Throughout the year, there are also opportunities for students to participate in after school sporting programs such as AFL Auskick, Soccer, Cricket and Tennis. There are also many Club sporting teams in and around our community where children from St William's are a part of and enjoy.
Instrumental Music Program
The Instrumental Music Program is offered to students in Years 4 to 6, with the option introduced at the end of Year 3.
Lessons are held one a week during school hours and are delivered by our Instrumental Teacher. A range of instruments is available, including clarinet, flute, saxophone, trombone, percussion allowing students to find an option that suits their interests.
Students also have the opportunities to perform at various school events, including the Cultural Soiree and Christmas Carols. St William's also perform at the annual Queensland Catholic Schools and College's Music Festival.
Choir
Further to our classroom music program, there are opportunities for students in all year levels to extend their singing technique and enjoyment through the avenues of the very talented St William's Choir. There are two choirs available for our students. All students can be part of our Prep - Yr 6 Choir which rehearses before school, and then our students in Years 4 to 6 can choose to also join our Senior Choir which rehearses during lunch breaks.
Wellbeing
Wellbeing is at the forefront of Catholic education encouraging students to feel a strong sense of connection and belonging.
Before school, children have the opportunity to participate in mindful meditations, positive affirmations, and fun dance activities to help start the day with a positive mindset. At first break each day, children are welcome to visit the Zen Den where they can use finger labyrinths and colour mandalas while listening to quiet music.
At St William’s we have our therapy dog, Hugo, who assists with the wellbeing needs of our students. Hugo is on campus 1-2 days per week and works as an extension of the services that the student support team provides to the children and staff at St William's. Hugo can be found greeting students and staff in the morning and around the grounds, helping students who are experiencing separation anxiety in the mornings, supporting children who need help moving from one lesson to the next around the school, and providing companionship and a playmate for students receiving counselling amongst many more things. Hugo has proven enormously popular with both students and staff.

Library Time
When the play bell sounds at first break, children have the opportunity to come to our wonderful Library for reading, drawing and other fun activities.
Clubs
Various clubs available throughout the school year include:
- Art Club, Junior and Senior Dance Club, Pokemon Club, Lego Club, Minecraft Club, Japanese Club, Gardening Club, Rubix's Cube Club, STEM Club, Dramarama Club, and St William's Press Club to name a few.
